Brazil's tropical forest is also home to Ipe, a unique tree with hues that progress from brown to olive green and a slightly oily appearance. Extremely hard and durable, Ipe is the wood of choice for luxury furniture and decoration. The African continent produces some interesting wood species of its own, including Sapele, which is ideal for furniture and doors because of its warm purple-brown hues.
