Lumber / Species

Consumer choices are influenced by fashion and culture. In many countries, dark wood is a symbol of wealth and light colored wood is synonymous with poverty, but in America, Ivory and Maple hues are just as popular as the coppery tones of Brazilian Mahogany. In order to satisfy such varied demand, Maron lumber strives to create superior quality wood products using the high-grade species that populate forests in Canada and abroad.

Discover an impressive assortment of Canadian varieties, starting with Cherry, with its reddish hue that is perfectly suited to furniture and flooring. We also offer the more discreet and more resistant American Beech and Ash, which are ideal for sports items and hardware. And of course we have Black Walnut, with its rich chocolate colour.

Maron lumber transcends borders in order to spoil its loyal clientele, expanding the colours and varieties that it offers by importing exotic species of the highest quality, including Jatoba, a Brazilian tree that can reach 30 to 40 metres in height, which is mainly used for floors and woodwork because its extreme density. Brazil's tropical forest is also home to Ipe, a unique tree with hues that progress from brown to olive green and a slightly oily appearance. Extremely hard and durable, Ipe is the wood of choice for luxury furniture and decoration. The African continent produces some interesting wood species of its own, including Sapele, which is ideal for furniture and doors because of its warm purple-brown hues. At Maron lumber, the list doesn't end there… imagine the variety of species that hail from every corner of the world; each with its own unique characteristics!
